Simon Stagg from MCF held another workshop on the 2nd February with Henshaws Society for the Blind, and on this occasion we were fortunate to have participants who worked across the organisation from managing vision support services through to assessment, community services and IT Training.
Again we worked through the presentation on frailty and an overview of the online assessment tool before discussing the practical application in relation to Henshaw’s own clients.
The group offered some very helpful insights into using the tool with their own client group. They already had a very clear understanding of frailty and the importance of recognising issues and acting on them. For their particular group of clients, (people with visual impairment), assessing frailty was seen as important at all ages including when someone is newly diagnosed or if there is a change in their vision.
They also recognised the value of a baseline assessment with ongoing checks and could see how this could be used in relation to the community service and as part of the course they offer on living with sight loss.
Our thanks to Glynis Howard for bringing everyone together and all the participants who took part. we look forward to working with you in the future.
